The Glow Spot has been an amazing adventure—and we are a sweet little trio truly happy to give back to our community!
This spot started as a beauty boutique with no direction, and 18 months later we found Grace and then Holly came on board, and we created new branding, goals and a vision to help Effingham County GLOW from our retail, spray tans, and waxing services.
Each of us has their own story of feeling a little bit in the slump of life and coming back to feel their best with beauty services and friendships that made all the difference. Read our stories below and learn why we are the place to help you feel confident and simply glowing; we love our jobs and we love our people!

Mary Ruth
Mary is originally from Alabama; born in Auburn and raised in Huntsville. She graduated from Troy University with a degree in psychology and nutrition, and has always had a passion for helping people FEEL their best—that’s what shines through on the outside!
She started doing spray tans and media management for BEETTAN sunless during Covid and decided it was something Effingham County needed in a more convenient way, rather than driving to Savannah for their BEETTAN spray tans.
Also owning Effin’ Yoga down the street, she started with offering spray tans in an extra room in the back of the studio. When things got busier with both studio classes and her spray tans, she decided to move the tans for a better experience in both businesses. The Glow Spot was originally opened as The Beautique, a vision for natural beauty and self care options…but not really sure what else she could do or offer while realistically keeping up with both businesses’ needs, marketing gigs, and her family.
She still teaches at her yoga studio, but also does tans, hosts SEINT makeup parties and color matching, and offers crafting classes and experiences using her decades of pageant and costuming experience within The Glow Spot. She didn’t want to give up all the things she has grown to love being a part of, so she brought on Grace and Holly to help with things and let things grows.
It’s been an amazing adventure she’ll never take for granted.
Grace
Our sweet Grace—we have so much to say about this beauty!
Grace came into Effin’ Yoga and Mary just had a feeling she should talk to her.
A simple ‘what brought you here’ turned into ‘I have an extra room you could offer waxing in’ and the rest in history.
Grace studied at The New York Institue of Beauty and has previous experience in multiple European Wax Center locations.
She moved from Long Island to the south and we are so glad she’s come our way! She offers gentle waxing services and dermaplaning facials. She is in house trained to be BEETTAN certified for spray tans within The Glow Spot, and she makes our merch like bags, shirts and sweatshirts.
Plus…Mary roped her into being a barre teacher and she’s loved at Effin’ Yoga for also helping you sweat—don’t miss her classes!

Holly Mae
Holly Mae has been part of the adventure in different ways since the beginning! She and Mary actually became friends when a mutual friend connected them for a dress alteration. A couple years later, Holly reached out about Mary’s yoga teacher training and they became friends. When Mary decided to open the spray tan boutique, Holly was such a friend and helped paint for days, and almost two years later she decided to step back from her busy hospitality work in Savannah and live closer to home in Screven County.
She is now in house trained for spray tans with BEETTAN, and does tans in The Glow Spot, as well as our mobile tans and parties. You can also book with her in Screven County. With her hospitality experience, she makes you feel so comfortable in your own skin during your appointments, AND she’s an amazing stylist. Let her dress you in the boutique—she’ll help you find things that compliment your coloring and figure and truly help you feel like you got a Glow UP!
She offers crafting classes and makes all natural products we offer in our boutique, and you can also find Holly at the studio for restorative yoga classes to help you work on relieving stress and finding your calm!
